Cervical screening, sometimes called a smear test, is a free NHS screening programme that helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for certain types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Screening is offered routinely to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64.
You will receive an invitation from the NHS when your cervical screening is due. In some cases, you may also receive a text message reminder from the Practice.
When am I due?
Ages 25 to 49: every 5 years
Ages 50 to 64: every 5 years
More frequent screening may be recommended if further monitoring is required
If you are unsure whether you are due, please contact the Practice.
